Alison K. (Kim) Hoagland, an architectural historian, was previously the senior historian of the Historic American Buildings Survey of the National Park Service, where she worked for fifteen years. She has published books on Alaskan architecture ("Buildings of Alaska", Oxford University Press, 1993) and U.S. army forts in Wyoming ("Army Architecture in the West: Forts Laramie, Bridger, and D. A. Russell, 1849-1912," University of Oklahoma Press, 2004). Her longstanding interest in workers' housing is focusing on the Copper Country, which will be the subject of her next book. She is president of the Vernacular Architecture Forum, for which she also co-edited two volumes of "Perspectives in Vernacular Architecture." She received her B.A. from Brown University and her M.A. from George Washington University in American Studies, with a concentration in historic preservation.
